Monky founder round: the terms, in plain English

What this is

The founder round is a preorder for the first 300 Monky units, sold by Monkimals (Monky LLC) (“we”, “us”). It is not an investment: you are buying a product (or gifting one), not equity, and no financial return is promised or implied.

How pledging works

When you pledge, your payment card is saved securely by Stripe. Nothing is charged at that time. By saving your card you authorize us to charge it for your pledge total only if all 300 founder Monkys are reserved within 12 months of your pledge and a pre-production unit passes its lab pre-check. If that does not happen in that window, your card is never charged and your pledge expires with no action needed from you.

If the goal is reached, we will email you before charging, then charge every saved card and place the production order the same week.

Prices

Founder Monky: $360 per unit. Gift a Monky: $299 per unit. Boost: any amount you choose. If you pledged before the founder price moved to $360, your founder units stay at $349 each, including when you change your pledge. Totals are computed from these prices at the time of your pledge or its latest change.

Delivery

Every founder Monky is hand-assembled and tested after supplier lead times, so we estimate delivery within 12 months of the day your card is charged. If we cannot ship within that window we will notify you with a revised date, and you may cancel for a full and prompt refund at any point after a delay notice, as United States mail order rules require.

Changing or canceling

Before your card is charged: email hello@monkimals.com anytime and we will change or release your pledge; your card is simply never charged. After the charge: full refund on request until the production order is placed, and a full refund if we fail to ship your Monky within 12 months of the charge. Gifted units follow the same rules.

Gifted Monkys

Gift units are built and placed with children through children’s hospitals and wish-granting organizations as those relationships are finalized. We will report where every gifted Monky went. If we cannot place a gifted unit, we will contact you to choose between delivery to you or a refund.

Sharing and content

The founder run exists to put Monky into the world, and founders showing their Monky is a big part of that. If you share photos or videos of your Monky and tag us, send them to us, or post them in the founders community, you give us permission to repost that content in Monky marketing, including our crowdfunding campaign, with credit where practical. Change your mind about any piece of content? Tell us and we will take it down.

Privacy

We collect your name and email to manage your pledge, and Stripe handles your card entirely (we never see the number). Details in our privacy policy.

The fine print

One pledge per email address: pledging again updates your existing pledge rather than creating a second one. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. The charge on your statement will read MONKIMALS FOUNDERS. These terms plus your pledge confirmation email form the record of our agreement. Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
